IMAP is like a bridge between your email service and your email program (like Outlook, Apple Mail, or Gmail). It allows you to view and manage your emails, even if you're using different devices.
Glowie needs IMAP because some sites may ask for a security code, which in order to automate the retrieval process requires access to your inbox. Our retrieval process uses keywords and filters to find specific emails related to our modules. We do not have the ability to read any customer emails and will never do so. Glowie strongly respects user privacy and will never store, share, or read unauthorized emails. We firmly believe in confidentiality and will always remain transparent when dealing with customer data.
In order to begin, Glowie utilizes Gmail's IMAP protocol which means you must have a Gmail in order to use Glowie Modules. Your IMAP Login will be your normal Gmail. Your IMAP Password is an app specific password that you will provide in your GlowKey. Please note that an app specific password is not your main Gmail password and providing it will not work. To create your IMAP Password follow these steps:
Login to your Gmail account and click your profile in the top right. Select "Manage your Google Account"
On the left tab, select Security
In the middle box, select 2-Step Verification (note you will need to setup 2FA)
Scroll to the bottom and select App passwords.
Create your new App password by first creating a name and then clicking "Create"
Save your Login IMAP (Gmail) and your newly created IMAP Password in your GlowKey
If you wish to add more Gmails to utilize with IMAP repeat this process on separate Gmails. It is not necessary to create multiple if you do not wish to. You simply need one IMAP.
